History

Give Burns The Boot® (GBTB) began in 1990 and raised $76,000 that first year from the participation of 23 fire departments (Atlanta, Auburn, Bethlehem, Clayton County, Cobb County, Covington, DeKalb County, Douglas County, East Point, Forest Park, Hapeville, Jonesboro, Lamar County, Marietta, McDonough, Morrow, Riverdale, Rockdale County, Salem, Smyrna, Spalding County, Union City and Winder).  GBTB grew to include the participation of over 200 fire departments across the State, raising over 17 million dollars since inception.

The GFBF also supports a Give Burns The Boot® Investment Credit Program through which participating fire departments receive ten percent of the funds they collected to be used towards fire safety/burn prevention programs in their communities.  Over 1.7 million dollars has been reinvested in communities throughout the State.
