REQUIREMENTS
1) Funds will be held by the GFBF for a maximum of six (6) months once a department has been notified that its grant application has been approved. If by December 1, 2008, six (6) months from the award notification, said Department has not accessed its grant monies, funds will revert to the GFBF's general operating budget and the Department must reapply for funding. Upon reapplying, the Department's request will be considered as a new request.
2) Funding will be disbursed as reimbursement to the Department (with receipts) or by direct invoice from the vendor.
3) Joint ventures between fire departments and other agencies will be considered.
4) Departments must provide fire safety education to all sections of society located within their community at no cost.
5) A detailed project completion report must be submitted to the GFBF within sixty (60) days, following the completion of the program and/or no later than December 19th, 2008. The report must include specific usage of funds, details of project implementation, demonstration of program effectiveness, photographs and media coverage. If the required project completion report is not submitted to the GFBF by December 19th, 2008, the Department may no longer be eligible for future funding through this grant program.
6) If the Department is applying for GFBF funds to be used towards a project whose total cost exceeds $10,000 and for which additional funding is necessary for completion, said department must have budgeted or raised eighty percent (80%) of the funds, (anticipated Chesney Grant funds may be included in this amount) and have specific detailed plans to raise the necessary remaining capital within six (6) months. If the remaining funds are not available within six (6) months, impeding the project from completion, grant funds will be reverted to the GFBF’s general operating budget requiring that the Department must reapply for consideration. (Example: If the total cost of the Department’s proposed program is $10,000, upon applying for a $3,000 Chesney Grant, the Department must already have raised at least $5,000, which added to the anticipated Chesney Grant funds equals at least $8,000 or eighty percent (80%) of total project cost. The Department is then responsible for raising the remaining $2,000 or twenty percent (20%) within six (6) months of their award notification.)
7) Departments must contact the GFBF regarding scheduled media involvement and GFBF recognition so that GFBF representatives may directly participate in program implementation and media coverage when possible.
