Youth Firesetter Intervention Program

Collaborate with the Georgia Insurance and Fire Safety Commissioner, the Georgia State Fire Marshal’s Office, members from Georgia’s Fire Service, the Georgia Fire Academy, the Georgia Public Safety Educators Association, the Department of Juvenile Justice, and Safe Kids Georgia to form a statewide advisory committee to design a protocol, as well as identify, study and recommend improvements for existing YFIPs. The goals of the Georgia protocol are to educate the public regarding the dangers of children and fire; to provide fire safety/science/prevention education to families participating in the program; to see that needed psychosocial services are provided to individuals and families in the program; and to develop and maintain a network of inter-agency cooperation, jointly addressing the problem and relieving the risk associated with youth firesetting behavior.
