present the Miss Butts County Fire Department Burn Pageant on Saturday May 24, 2008 at the Jackson High School Auditorium 218 Woodland Way - Jackson, Georgia. The Georgia Firefighters Burn Foundation and the Northeast Georgia Council, BSA, would like to invite your Explorer Posts & Venture Crews to the 2008 Scout Blast Public Safety Competitions in Gwinnett County (Atlanta) Georgia at the Gwinnett County Fairgrounds. Everyone is invited...if you do not have an Explorer Post or Venture Crew come on out anyway!! A fun filled day full of competitions your youth won’t want to miss!! It's gonna be a BLAST!!

April 4 & 5 Miss Burn Pageant sponsored by the Swainsboro Fire Department at Swainsboro Auditorium, 532 West Church St, Swainsboro, GA. Competition dates are April 4th for ages 2-11years old. April 5th for age groups 0-23 months and 12-21 years old. Don’t forget about the Reverse Pageant…men dressed as women for a little fun and lots of laughter…firefighters we are counting on you for this one!! March 29 Do you have the Best Chili recipe in the world? Prove It!! Big Catch Grill & Lake Oconee Elks Lodge #2849 hosts the 2008 Lake Oconee Chili Cookoff. This family event will be at the Big Catch Grill in Eatonton, GA. Sign up and compete to win one of 5 cash prizes! Chili that will be judged has to be prepared on site (see rules). Contestants can also prepare their favorite chili recipe prior to the cook-off and it becomes property of Big Catch Grill and sold to guests for $1.00 a cup by each team. March 13-16 Atlanta Home Show at the World Congress Center in downtown Atlanta. GFBF will have a display for visitors to tour the Georgia State Fire Marshal’s Fire Safety House and meet the semi-finalists for the 2009 Georgia Heat Firefighters Calendar. Show hours are: Thurs 3/13 noon-6pm; Friday 3/14 noon-8pm; Saturday 3/15 10am-8pm; and Sunday 3/16 noon-6pm. Visit atlantahomeshow.com for additional information.

December 9 GFBF will provide food to burn center staff at Joseph M. Still Burn Center in Augusta, GA.
December 8 Grady Memorial Hospital Burn Center Holiday Party: GFBF will provide food to burn center staff at 11am. The Christmas Party is from noon - 2pm for burn center patients (current & past) and families, burn center visitors, and firefighters. Santa will bring gifts to patients on the burn unit and distribute candy to the children. Contact Don Williams 404-320-6223 for details.

The Dalton Fire Department Explorer Program and The Historic Wink Theater presents Kindle the Fire, Soothe the Burn – a mega concert event to raise much needed funds for the Georgia Firefighters Burn Camp.  The concert will feature solo artist Kelsey Fowler, and four live bands including SoulShine, Simple Fool, Fellowship of The Mystery, and Beggar’s Promise. The tickets are only $10 at the door and, of course, any additional donations would be very welcome!  Theater is located in downtown Dalton, GA, for directions visit http://winktheatre.org/directions
